About our School
The German Saturday School Islington is a not-for-profit supplementary school for bilingual children. The school has been running successfully for more than 25 years. Before Covid, we were teaching about 180 children from bilingual backgrounds at Drayton Park Primary School in Islington (near Highbury & Islington station). We currently teach about 150 students on Zoom, aged 4-17, in 11 class groups, covering nursery, primary classes, GCSE and A-level preparation.
A-level preparation
A-level preparation at Saturday School runs over three years as the students only meet for about two hours on 30-35 Saturdays per year. Most of them continue at Saturday School after taking early GCSEs and sit the A-level exam in Year 12.
Requirements
We are looking for a qualified German teacher to join our A-level team asap, if possible from 24 April, for our youngest A-level group. The class currently has 12 students, 14-15 years old, and they are aiming for A-levels in 2023 or 2024.
We are looking for a mother-tongue German speaker who would like to join our team of about 20 teachers who teach these additional classes on Saturday mornings with much enthusiasm. We don't teach German as a foreign language and our classes are held in German. Our priority is that our children enjoy coming, so classes should be held in a positive, creative and encouraging spirit.
Due to the virus, we don't know yet if we can teach on site or will have to continue on Zoom after Easter. If you are interested, you should be happy to teach in both formats (Zoom training available). On site classes at Drayton Park run from 10.15am until 12.15pm on Saturday mornings (term time only) with a 15-minute break (2x45 minutes). Zoom arrangements differ from class to class within the same time frame.

We are also looking for support teachers in this age group.
