Community
German Saturday School is not just about lessons. For many parents this is their Saturday morning social to catch up with friends

Our "extras" such as the tea and coffee provision, the DVD library, Doppelkopf or the toddler group are parent initiatives and parents are involved in running and planning our special events, such as the Summer Fair or the Christmas celebration. We work together to create a stimulating school environment in which our children, young people and adult learners can 'absorb' the German language in and out of the classroom.

Special events
Cultural traditions come alive when we get together for events such as the annual lantern walk, Advent or Carnival and when we sing traditional songs during our morning singing. Through these initiatives we hope to build a friendly and supportive school community, a place where learners can thrive and friendships can grow.
Singkreis
We start our Saturday mornings with singing to encourage our families to make the transition to the German speaking environment.

Krabbelgruppe
For families with younger children we provide a Krabbelgruppe, an informal toddler group, from 10:30 to 11:15am. Parents and their children meet for German nursery songs, stories and crafts, free play and a chat.
Doppelkopf
Beginners are welcome to join the Doppelkopf-Runde for a game of cards.
Book Club
We would love to hear from parents who would be interested in reviving our parent book club.

Büchertisch
Families can buy second hand German language books or games at our regular Büchertisch.

DVD lending library
Watching films and TV programmes in German is a great way to improve language skills. We have a large collection of films and TV programmes for young and old to borrow, many that are not easily available in other formats.

Choir
We are excited that the parent choir will restart rehearsals at Saturday School in 2023/24.
