MORE ABOUT THE NEW HACKNEY SCHOOL... |
|||||||||
The new school will initially be run and managed by the team of the German Saturday School in Islington and we promise you all our valuable experience of the last 15 years. But we have good news for you, at least for families who live in East London: we will start a new German Saturday School at Gainsborough Community Primary School, Berkshire Road, E9 5ND, in Hackney Wick on September 24. The new Saturday School will be kick-started by the Islington School, and will be part of our Limited Liability Company. We are planning to run it in the same style and with the same ethos as our Islington School, whih is that additional classes on a Saturday morning need to be fun. We are planning to start with 3 classes for children aged 4-7 (children need to be 4 by December 31st, 2011), and are offering about 30 places to start out with. We hope that the children will like it just like in Islington, and stay with us up to GCSE- and A-Level age, and that we will add a new beginners class for 4-year-olds every year. Classes will cost £12 for the first child, £10 for the first sibling and £8 for all further siblings per Saturday, payable per term in advance. Please note: we are a non-profit limited liability company, but need to cover our expenses (rent, fair teacher salaries, insurance and administration). Places are being allocated on a 1st come 1st served basis (within age groups), and more than 20 children have already signed up. Children will need to be brought up bilingual and at least have a good understanding of spoken German, as classes will be held in German, and we do not teach German as a foreign language. Please note that two hours on a Saturday morning is not enough, and if you want your child to grow up bilingual it still requires a lot of support on your side. We usually arrange for a trial lesson, but this will initially be difficult at the new site, so please contact us if you have any doubts to avoid problems and disappointment at a later stage. To sign up please contact Ulrike, our Assistant Manager, at hackney@samstagsschule.co.uk We need your and your children’s names, date of birth and your contact details (telephone number(s), postal address, email) and good times to call you if you do have any queries. We are also looking for one more teacher for the Hackney Wick School. We already have two fantastic teachers lined up, one of whom is an experienced Saturday School teacher, plus a number of supply teachers, and need one more permanent teacher to join the team. If you are interested in this teaching position or would like some more information about it, please contact Cathrin at: cordes@dircon.co.uk We are all very excited to start this new project, andwould be very happy for you to join in. Best wishes Cathrin & Ulrike |
